A total of 123 militancy-related incidents have been reported from Jammu Kashmir in the ongoing year till November end, the Ministry of Home Affairs told the upper house of the Indian parliament.
According to the official data accessed by The Kashmiriyat, 31 Government force personnel and 31 civilians have been killed during this period in militancy-related incidents.
A total of 180 militants have been killed during various anti-militancy operations in the region, the data revealed.
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that there was a “substantial” decline in militant incidents from 417 in 2018 to 229 in 2021.
He said among the 31 killed, 14 belonged to minorities including 3 Kashmiri Pandits.
He also said there were certain media reports of Kashmiri Pandit Sangharsh Samiti highlighting their security concerns.
“The government has taken a number of measures to protect the lives of minorities, including group security in the form of static guards, day and night area control, round-the-clock Nakas at strategic points, patrolling and speculative Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs), security arrangements through appropriate deployment,” he said.
