Missing Kashmiri Youth Found Dead in Assam

Meer Irfan A Kashmiri youth has been found dead in Assam days after he went missing in the North- East India. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the family of the youth said that the family has reached the airport in Srinagar to collect the dead body of the deceased youth. Identified as Mohammed Asif Dar of Dharbagh, he had gone missing last month, when he had went with his truck to Assam. The family of Asif said that he had been missing since and then they ran pillar to post to trace Asif. "We are unsure what caused his death," the family member told The Kashmiriyat over phone. ‘Eight Species Have Gone Extinct’- Experts Warn of Reducing Fish in Kashmir

Sheikh Nadeem A total of 13 Species of Fish is found in the Kashmir valley, out of which, 8 have gone extinct, The fisheries Department has said. The department has raised serious concern over the issue and said that out of the five breeds to have survived, two more are under threat. "If we do not take steps to preserve them, they too will become extinct," an official told The Kashmiriyat. Meanwhile various experts in Kashmir have warned the fisheries department in this regard. Mohammed Mufeez Noor Mohammed Trali, a Renowned preacher from Tral area in Southern Kashmir's Pulwama district breathed his last on Thursday evening. Moulana Noor Ahmad Trali who was a resident of Tral Payeen passed away in a Srinagar hospital after a brief illness. He served the people of Tral for several decades and dedicated his entire life for the sevice of humanity, his death is being widely condoled. The Border Security Force has yet again said that it spotted drone movement along the Line of Control in Ranbir Singh (RS) Pura sector of Jammu Kashmir and fired at the object pushing it back from the Indian territory. Voting for the fifth phase of the District Development Council (DDC) election is being held in Jammu Kashmir today amid high security arrangements. Despite cold weather conditions, large number of voters are coming to vote. As per the election commmision, 9.46% voter turnout has been recorded till 9 am in fifth phase of DDC polls. The Kashmir valley recorded an overall polling percentage of 4.81% while Jammu Division recorded 13.58% up to 9 am. The Election Commission has said that 299 candidates are in the fray in the fifth phase out of which 229 male candidates and 70 are female candidates. Supreme Court Refuses to Hear Appeals on Roshni Act

The Supreme Court of India on Thursday refrained from examining the appeals related to Roshni Land Act till the Jammu Kashmir (J&K) High Court decides the review petition filed against its October 9 judgment on the case. The order was passed by a three-judge Bench in a batch of appeals filed against the judgment of the High Court ordering a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged scam. The Supreme Court said that the Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir and various beneficiaries under the Roshni Act have filed review petitions against the High Court judgment which is pending before the High Court.
