The rooftop of Boys Government Degree College Anantnag collapsed on Friday afternoon due to heavy snowfall resulting in damages to the building and loss of crores of rupees. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday afternoon, the roof of the college building that was constructed in 2017 by the Department of Roads and Buildings with a cost of  7 crore, suddenly collapsed resulting in damage to property worth two crores. Further strengthening its security grid, Jammu and Kashmir Police have introduced highway patrol vehicles and launched CCTV network monitoring lab in Jammu. "There have been many infiltration attempts in Jammu province through national highway in past years. Panic has gripped across Jammu Kashmir on Thursday,  as More than 100 birds were found dead in Rajouri, Kathua and Udhampur district from Wednesday evening to Thursday evening. The Administration has picked up the samples and burnt birds at far off locations. Joint teams of Wildlife and Animal Husbandry Departments have been constituted in all the districts and are closely monitoring the situation. The Senior Superintendent of Jammu Kashmir Police for Anantnag, Sandeep Chaudhary on Friday morning reviewed traffic management in the Islamabad (Anantnag) town after the massive snowfall that cut the majority of areas from the district headquarters. He spoke to several shopkeepers in the township while taking stock of the situation in the aftermath of the snowfall. "The past week has been tough for police to manage the traffic in Anantnag town due to heavy snowfall, Civil administration Anantnag has been prompt in its snow clearance operations which facilitated the traffic movement," SSP Sandeep said. "The SSP directed the policemen on the ground to help the public at such a crucial time especially ladies and elders," an official of Jammu Kashmir Police said.

For the first time since the outbreak COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, no fresh cases have been detected in the eight districts across the Union Territory while three new deaths and 127 fresh cases reported from the rest of the districts on Thursday.
