72 Test Positive for Covid 19 in Udhampur Jail

Authorities on Monday said that 72 inmates have been tested positive for COVID-19 in Udhampur jail. Superintendent of Udhampur Jail, Harish Kotwal told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that samples of inmates were collected yesterday and 72 out of 479 inmates tested positive for COVID-19. At least six youth have been picked up during nocturnal raids from the Turkwangam belt of Shopian in South Kashmir. Mehran Bhat Two Militants have been killed during an  encounter that raged between militants and Government forces in the Khanmoh area of Srinagar district. An official told The Kashmiriyat that a joint team of Police and CRPF had launched a cordon and search operation in Khanmoh area of Srinagar on Monday morning. During the encounter, two unidentified Militants have been killed. As per initial reports, the duo was affiliated to Al Badr. One of them had reportedly joined Al Badr  four days ago.

In the midst of the country's second pandemic wave, Jammu and Kashmir BJP unit’s vice-president Yudhvir Sethi on Saturday performed a 'havan' to "ward off" the Covid-19 pandemic. According to a party spokesman, Sethi was joined by party colleagues Anil Masoom, Ajit Yogi, Parveen Kerni, Pawan Sharma, Roshan Lal Sharma and Satish Kumar in the fire ritual and in compliance with all COVID-19 guidelines. Sethi expressed hope that the "havan" will aid in the eradication of the disease, which has infected over 2,40,000 people and claimed the lives of over 3,000 people in the Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir.
