Ladakh Admin Reserves Jobs for Permanent Residents of Ladakh

The Administration in Ladakh has issued an order to temporarily define ‘residents of the Union Territory' for the purpose of appointment to all the non-gazetted posts. According to the Ladakh Resident Certificate (PRC) Order 2021, any person who possesses a Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued by the competent authority in the districts of Leh and Kargil or belongs to a category of persons who would have been eligible to be issued PRC by the competent authority would be eligible to receive the ‘resident certificate’. Sheikh Tajamul, Director of KMS Dies of Illness

Sheikh Tajamul Islam (67), the director of Kashmir Media Service (KMS) has passed away in Pakistan, according to media reports. Tajamul who was the editor of Daily Azaan had migrated to the other side of Kashmir during militancy and lived there. The Jammu Kashmir Police in September taking cognizance of the issue of fake news in September 2021 had asked people to not believe in the content published in KMS. He was initially a member of Jamiat e Talba, the student’s organization but it was banned by the Jammu Kashmir government. He passed away after a brief illness in a hospital in Pakistan's capital city, Islamabad.

The mobile Internet services will be restored in Kashmir on Monday evening, top police officials told IANS. The blockade on the Internet and voice calling services was imposed in Kashmir as a precautionary measure after the death of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Wednesday night. The Voice calling and broadband Internet was later restored on Friday as the situation remained peaceful in the aftermath of Geelani's death. However, mobile Internet services continued to remain suspended. The Internet connectivity was being restored in phases after evaluating the situation in the valley, said the police. The valley witnessed no untoward incident after Geelani's death.

A police spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that Rajouri police along with a team of Punjab police conducted a raid at various locations in village Sarya in the jurisdiction of police station Nowshera.
