The Administration in Ladakh has issued an order to temporarily define ‘residents of the Union Territory' for the purpose of appointment to all the non-gazetted posts. According to the Ladakh Resident Certificate (PRC) Order 2021, any person who possesses a Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued by the competent authority in the districts of Leh and Kargil or belongs to a category of persons who would have been eligible to be issued PRC by the competent authority would be eligible to receive the ‘resident certificate’. The Hurriyat Conference (M) denounced the filing of an FIR against the family of late senior leader Syed Ali Geelani by the authorities in connection with his death. In a statement, Hurriyat (M) said the details shared by Geelani’s son in media that the authorities took the body of the 92-year-old leader into their custody, and buried it on their own without the knowledge and participation of the family is appalling and painful to hear. “It is so tragically inhuman when a family is denied the basic right of burial of their loved one and one can only imagine what the family must have gone through. Jammu and Kashmir Police along with a team of Punjab police Saturday recovered Rs 29.5 lakhs from the house of a drug peddler at Sarya Bhawani village in Nowshehra. A police spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that Rajouri police along with a team of Punjab police conducted a raid at various locations in village Sarya in the jurisdiction of police station Nowshera. He said that they recovered Rs 29.5 lakhs from the house of one drug peddler namely Sikandar residence of village Saryah Bhawani. It is pertinent to mention that it was in follow up to the case FIR number 164/2021 registered under various sections of NDPS Act. The Train service remained suspended for the fifth day on Monday in the Kashmir valley as a precautionary measure. Official sources said that the train will not chug on Srinagar-Badgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir for the fifth day today. Similarly, train service will remain suspended on the Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund route in south Kashmir to Banihal. they added. Train service was suspended on Thursday following direction from the administration and police as a precautionary measure after the death of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani who breathed his last at his Hyderpora residence on Wednesday night.
