Body of a Sub-Inspector with Border Security Forces was found hanging from ceiling of his quarter under mysterious circumstances in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district on Tuesday, officials said. They said at 1800 hours, the BSF Sub Inspector’s body was found inside his quarters at a camp in Sunderbani. Identified as Ladup Bomza, a police officer told GNS that inquest proceedings have been launched into the death of the Sub Inspector who was from West Bengal. “Post-mortem has been conducted at Sub-district Hospital Sundarbani. After completion of legal formalities, the body stands handed over to BSF authorities,” he said. The officer said that suicide was “definitely a possibility” but police investigation “will cover all other angles.” (GNS)

Rusted Grenade Found, Destroyed in Awura Kupwara

Security forces on Tuesday evening destroyed a rusted grenade in Awura in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. An official told GNS that a party of 160 Territorial Army found the grenade lying in Awura Mir Muqam. “On initial assessment, the army assisted by police, later on, destroyed the explosive without any damage caused to anyone or anything”, the official said. Confirming it, a police official told GNS the grenade was rusted and seemed to have been lying there for a considerable time. (GNS)

Suhail Dar At least four people were injured in an accident between 2 two-wheelers in the Batengo area of Anantnag. The condition of one is stated to be critical. The injured were identified as, Syed Athar Son of Mohammed Rafiq Syed, resident of Bemina Srinagar, Mohsin son of Zahoor Ahmed Mir, resident of Batengooa (24), Sharib Dar son of Aijaz Ahmed Dar resident of Batengoo (18), and Aloof Dar son of Mukhtar Ahmed Dar resident of Batnegoo (22). A handicapped person has gone missing in the Bandigar area of Anantnag since 16th March. He has been identified as Sareer Ahmad son of Sanaullah Wani, resident of the Bandigar area of Anantnag.
