Jammu Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Monday said that in the past many decades no serious effort was made to prevent power losses with the result the UT continues to face huge Transmission and Distribution (T&D) losses to the tune of Rs 3400 Crore a year. He also announced that Jammu areas getting electricity from four feeders comprising 6603 houses having smart meters installed will get an uninterrupted power supply. The Chinese media reported, The plane belonging to China Eastern Airlines crashed in Teng County, Wuzhou of Guangxi province and caused a mountain fire. Bhat Yasir At least seven persons were wounded when a passenger Vehicle fell into a deep gorge in  Sadhna Top area in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a Tata Sumo vehicle bearing the number JK09 5693 was hit by a snowslide along the Sadhna Pass, causing injuries to seven persons. Immediately after the accident,  a rescue operation was launched in the area to rescue the travelers, after which they were shifted to Sub District hospital Tanghdar for treatment. 4 houses gutted in pre-dawn fire in Kupwara village

Four residential houses were gutted in a pre-dawn fire at Ganai Mohalla area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday. An official of fire and emergency department told GNS that soon after receiving the information about the blaze, fire engines were rushed to the area. Four houses, one of them three-storey and others two-storey, were damaged in the blaze which was contained after hectic efforts. One personnel of the department, Gulzar Ahmad, was also injured while dousing the flames, the official said. The  Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with the outside world, has been closed amid continuous shooting stones near the Mehar area in Ramban, officials said on Monday. “Due to continuous shooting stones at Mehar Ramban, the highway has been closed. Some 1000 Jammu bound trucks are stranded between Ramban and Banihal,” a senior traffic department officer told GNS. Meanwhile, Mughal Road, connecting Shopian with Poonch and Rajouri districts, remained closed for vehicular movement in view of snow accumulation at Peer Ki Gali.
