Tarigami appreciates admin’s decision to absorb Centaur Hotel employees

State President CITU J-K, Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami Thursday appreciated the J-K government’s decision to absorb 145 employees of Hotel Corporation of India (HCI) working at Centour Lake View Hotel Srinagar in different corporations under the tourism department on existing terms and conditions while the retirement benefits for the period they had worked with Hotel Corporation of India would be borne by HCI. As per the decision, employees will be absorbed on the same and similar terms and conditions of service in the J-K Tourism Department, Cable Car Corporation, and Sher-i-Kashmir International Convocation Centre (SKICC) Srinagar. A government official has been suspended after allegedly getting 21 lakh litres of water drained from a reservoir to recover his expensive phone that had fallen into it. According to NDTV, He was quick to clarify, though, saying the water was “unusable” and he got prior verbal permission from the local Sub Divisional Officer. 42-year-old woman found dead at her home in Kulgam

Danishwar Hameed A 42-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Kulgam district of south Kashmir. An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday morning, a woman (name withheld) was found lying unconscious at her home in the Bathpora area of Damhal Hanjipora belt of Kulgam. He said the 42-year-old woman was rushed to the nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. Though the cause of the death is not known, the official said that the woman died of consuming poison. Police have registered a case in this regard and launched further investigation.

NIA moves Delhi HC seeking death sentence for Yasin Malik

The National Investigation Agency of India has moved to the supreme court seeking the death penalty for JKLF leader Mohammed Yasin Malik, Live Law reported. Malik was sentenced to life by a court in New Delhi on militancy charges in the month of May 2022. Malik had told the court that he was not contesting the charges leveled against him that included sections 16 (militant act), 17 (raising funds for militant act), 18 (conspiracy to commit militant act) and 20 (being member of militant gang or organisation) of the UAPA and sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 124-A (sedition) of the IPC. 17-year-old youth goes missing in Anantnag, family seeks help

Suhail Dar Bakir Bashir, a resident of Gadisera Bijbehara in south Kashmir's Anantnag district has been missing from his home since yesterday. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat,  a family member of the 17-year-old youth said that he left his home on Thursday after from home, after which he did not return home. The family has also filed a missing report at the concerned police station and appealed to the general public to help them trace their kin. The Jammu Kashmir police arrested two persons in Shopian and received contraband substances from their possession. In a press release Police said, During a Naka checking at Pirpora crossing Keegam in Shopian, Police recovered 184g of charas from the possession of two persons. The duo was identified as Bilal Dar and Aakir Hakim, both residents of Arihal Pulwama. Police registered a case in this regard and further investigation has been taken up, the press release added.

Baramulla Police today rescued a tourist family comprising 3 adults & 4 kids of Telengana who arrived in Gulmarg and went for a Gondola ride to Kangdoori Gulmarg. An official told the news agency—Kashmir Scroll that on return to Gondola Phase 2nd, they lost their way and got stuck in the Kangdoori area. Acting upon this, police rescue teams of PS Gulmarg led by SHO PS Gulmarg Insp Irshad with the assistance of ATVs and Pony Walas were formed who followed around the Kangdoori area and finally reached the location of the tourist family and rescued them from the area and brought them back to Gulmarg safely, he said. Jammu Kashmir’s Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta Thursday said that unemployment hasn’t increased in the UT and those who claim so are “lying.” Addressing a function at Wayil in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, Kumar said there is truth in claims that unemployment has increased in J&K. “Such claims are nothing but a big lie,” he said, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
