As the carbon emission continues to increase, the melting of glaciers has gained a pace in Jammu Kashmir while as the experts assert that the Union Territory has lost nearly “30 per cent of glaciers in the past 60 years and warned that 70 per cent of them will recee by the end of this century if the prevailing pace continues.” Reports have suggested that the melting of glaciers will lead to water scarcity in the near future. A deadly blast has left a number of casualties in a Shia mosque in Pul-e-Khumri, the provincial capital of north Afghanistan's Baghlan province. Eyewitnesses said the blast ripped through Friday prayers, leaving multiple dead and injured among the worshipers at Imam Zaman (AS) Mosque. The director of the Baghlan Information and Culture Department, Mustafa Hashemi, confirmed that the worshippers had been killed and injured in the blast. He did not provide further details regarding the type of blast and the exact number of causalities, saying that details would be shared after initial assessments. Another source from Baghlan said that at least 17 people were killed and “dozens more” were wounded in the blast.

He said that continuous rain throughout the night and snowfall on Razdan Top and surrounding areas forced the authorities to close Bandipora-Gurez road. Meanwhile, rain lashed other parts of the Kashmir valley, resulting in considerable dip in the maximum temperature. Security forces in north Kashmir's Handwara found a suspicious object, following which traffic has been suspended on the national highway, sources said. Sources told New Agency Kashmir Scroll that the Army's road opening party (ROP) found a suspicious object in the Ganapora area of Kralgund in Handwara this morning. The Army team raised an alert, after which more teams of the Army and police reached the site. Following this, the movement of vehicles on the highway was suspended as a precautionary measure, sources said.
