Three persons accused of being militant associates have been arrested in the Kulgam district of south Kashmir, Police said.
In a press release, Police said that Jammu Kashmir police, along with the Army’s 1 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 1 Para (SF), and the 18th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), arrested three individuals accused of being terrorist associates linked to the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)/The Resistance Front (TRF).
“The arrests were made during the investigation of an ongoing case registered under FIR No. 02/2025 at Qaimoh Police Station under sections 13, 18, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA),” a Police spokesperson added.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ubaid Khursheed Khanday, son of Khursheed Ahmad Khanday, Maqsood Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat, and Umer Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad Dar.
All three are residents of Thokerpora Qaimoh in Kulgam.
“Authorities have stated that the accused were in close contact with active members of LeT/TRF and were allegedly planning major terrorist activities in the district,” the press release read.
A significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during the operation. “the recovered items include two AK-series rifles, eight AK-series magazines, 217 rounds of AK ammunition, five hand grenades, and two magazine pouches,” Police said.
