Reports reaching GNS said that the fire erupted from a readymade shop and spread to a few other adjacent shops. Soon after the news spread, locals from the area launched a rescue operation to douse off raging flames. However, as long as fire could be controlled, three shops, belonging to Manzoor Ahmed, Javid Ahmad, and Hussain Gani, were razed to rubble beside a seminary also damaged in the incident.
Two locals also received injuries, after glass pierced their hand(s), during the efforts to control fire.
The local inhabitants in the meantime alleged Fire and Emergency Services of arriving too late to the site, despite being informed well in time.
“Once the fire broke out, we informed the department concerned, however, they arrived here once the damage was done”, a local told GNS.
Another local said that a Fire and Emergency unit was approved for Larnoo two years before, but it is yet to be established. (GNS)
