Jammu Kashmir National Conference on Friday raised objections to the creation of district-level committees, led by deputy commissioners, tasked with identifying land for the establishment of 5-star hotels in the region.
Expressing strong disapproval of this development, the party’s State Spokesperson, Imran Nabi Dar, stated that the intentions behind such decisions are questionable until a popularly elected government is in place.
“With elections scheduled in the coming months, all these orders should be suspended until an elected government takes office. The NC is committed to reviewing all decisions made after August 5, 2019, if elected later this year. Therefore, any private company or individual considering participating in these offers from the current J&K administration should weigh the wisdom of doing so now versus waiting a few more months,” he said.
“Such proposals should be managed by a popularly elected government that considers all factors, including ecology, the environment, and the interests of the people of Jammu Kashmir. Any decisions contrary to these principles will be subject to change by the elected government,” he added.
