7 ITBP personnel Dead, 30 others injured in Pahalgam road accident

At least seven Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel we’re killed, while thirty others were injured as a bus carrying the troopers from Chandawari to Pahalgam skidded off the road and rolled down to a gorge near Zig Chandanwari area of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday.

An ITBP official told The Kashmiriyat that that the civillian bus carrying thirty-seven ITBP troopers and 2 from J&K police, who were on Yatra duty, met with an accident near Chandanwari area of Pahalgam.

He said that bus carrying troopers fell down to a roadside river bed after it’s breaks reportedly failed,
seven personnel died on the spot while at least 30 other’s suffered injures, mostly serious, he said. have been shifted to GMC Anantnag hospital and among injured 8 seriously injured troopers are being airlifted to army’s 92 base hospital, Srinagar, he said.

The mishap took place at Frislan in Pahalgam area, “ The jawans were deputed in the area for the Amarnath Yatra. We are in touch with local administration and teams of disaster management,” he said.

In a road accident near Chandanwari Pahalgam in Anantnag district, 7 ITBP personnel got martyred while as several others got injured, who are being airlifted to Army hospital, Srinagar for treatment. Kashmir zone police said in a tweet, adding, “Further details shall follow.”

Meanwhile, DC Anantnag Dr Piyush Singla said that “ as many as 19 ambulances we’re rushed to Chandanwari Pahalgam soon after incident, “ The medical teams at GMC Anantnag, district Hospital Anantnag and SDH Seer have been put on high alert,“All medical assistance is being provided.he said.”
