Mehbooba Mufti Barred from Visiting Tral Village Allegedly Ransacked by Army; Main Gate of Residence Locked

Former chief minister of JK and the PDP chief was Thursday barred from visiting Tral area of South Kashmir as police locked the main gate of her Gupkar residence this morning.

A PDP leader said that Mehbooba was scheduled to visit the Seer area of Tral payeen but district administration did not allow her and policemen from police station Ram Munshibagh locked the main gate of her residence and placed a banker on the main gate.

Speaking to the news agency-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the PDP chief said: ” Well wanted to visit Seer, Tral where people allege that forces are creating havoc, ransacking homes, beating villagers mercilessly. But I have not been allowed to go there, so it seems the government has a lot to hide so they have put me under house arrest.”

However, a police officer told KNO that Mehbooba has been requested to avoid visiting Tral due to security reasons by SP Awantipora and DIG South Kashmir-(KNO)

“Locked up in my house today yet again for attempting to visit the village in Tral allegedly ransacked by army. This is the real picture of Kashmir that visiting dignitaries must be shown instead of GOIs sanitised & guided picnic tours,” she also tweeted from her official handle. (KNO)
