The Dooru town in Anantnag district of South Kashmir is waterlogged after the fresh snowfall on Friday, adding to the problems of the locals already reeling under a harsh winter.

Locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that they are the worst hit due to the waterlogging that has affected the public movement from two to three days, because of the inaction and negligence of the government authorities.

“Due to the non-availability of drainage system waterlogging has irked the residents as well as pedestrians.

People of the Dooru have appealed to the governor and officials of concerned departments to put the men and machinery into service to dewater the town.

In this regard AEE R&B Subdivision Dooru, Er. Ghulam Qadir said the tender has been submitted after being approved on a priority basis.

“We will construct a drainage system. I have directed concerned department to save the surface of the road during snow clearance,” he said.
