Inspired by the Muslim poet, philosopher, and politician Allama Iqbal, a 21-year-old boy from the frontier district of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district has published his debut novel.
Aamir Altaf, a political science graduate from India’s premier educational institution Aligarh Muslim University, during the ongoing global pandemic has published his maiden book titled “Walking Away- The Unfinished Part of Me.”
Talking to The Kashmiriyat, Aamir said that the writings of Dr. Sir Mohammad Iqbal has motivated him to explore the writer in him, and the COVID 19 lockdown enabled him to work on his book while being locked indoors. The book is about a student, his struggles living in a troubled region and the predicaments he faces during his student life. It is a story based on love, sacrifice, and long-distance relationships.
“It tells us about how our society is dysfunctional and how our culture encourages us to be emotionless, how our youth constantly look for something deep and intimate without considering the risks”, said the budding writer.
Aamir said that apart from Dr. Sir Mohammad Iqbal he is inspired by the writings of Paulo Coelho and Shashi Tharoor.
Aamir has over the years featured in various regional newspapers with his opinion pieces on various contemporary issues.
