The Anantnag district administration on Monday made functional the multi-level car parking near Eid Gah of Janglat Mandi are in South Kashmir’s Anantnag town.
The Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag Dr. Piyush Singla, SSP Anantnag Aashish Mishra, CEO Municipal Council Anantnag Jehangir Ahamed Khanday, President Municipal Council Anantnag Hilal Ahamed Shah and other officials from the district administration were present on the occasion.
Aghast over the traffic congestion, the locals from Anantnag town had approached the former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who laid the foundation stone and inaugurated the multi-level car parking in July 2017.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the locals expressed thankfulness to the administration for completion of the much anticipated project which is likely to reduce the traffic volume in the township that otherwise had less parking space.
Meanwhile the Jammu Kashmir Police on Monday morning conducted market checks in the town and removed the illegal parking in a bid to decongest the town.
The local police also asked the people to follow the Covid protocol strictly.
