An encounter has broken out between militants and government forces in the Frisal area of Kulgam, making it second encounter of the day.
Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that a team of Jammu Kashmir Police, Indian army and CRPF had launched a cordon and search operation in the area following inputs about militant movement in the area.
During the operation launched on Saturday afternoon, the hiding militants opened fire on forces, triggering an encounter, they said.
As per the latest reports, a massive exchange of gunfire is going on at the site of the encounter.
Meanwhile, another encounter is going on in the Modergam area of Kulgam, where one army trooper has been killed.
