A teenage boy was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon in the Srinagar district of Kashmir on Sunday evening.
Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that a teenager Farhan Ahmed, son of Mohammad Rafiq Wagay, a resident of Maloora was attacked with a knife on his head, causing a critical injury to him.
Faizan aged 17 was rushed to the JVC hospital Srinagar, where he is undergoing treatment.
According to locals, Faizan has been critically wounded during the knife attack and is currently under critical care at the hospital.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under relevant sections of law.
Knife attacks have been on a rise in the Kashmir valley. The Kashmiriyat reported in October last year that at least 42 incidents of knife attacks have been reported till that period in the year, most of the victims young men in the age group 15-30.
The reasons for these knife attacks range from love to hate and jealousy among other, most of them originating from intolerance.
This intolerance is visible in our everyday life. Kashmir’s social media is a stark symbol of the growing hate, intolerance and anger among Kashmiris.
Dr. Andrew Martinez, a leading researcher in social psychology, states, “Intolerance can foster a hostile environment where conflicts are more likely to escalate into violence. It hinders the ability to engage in constructive dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution.”
