In the view of the ongoing Cricket Asia Cup wherein the Indian and Pakistani cricket teams are supposed to confront each other in Dubai, the administration of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar has directed their students not to create any indiscipline in the Institute or hostel.

The Dean Students Welfare in an notice, a copy of which lies with The Kashmiriyat, directed the students to take sports as a game. “The students are aware that cricket series is going on between various nations in Dubai International stadium. Students are hereby directed to take sports as a game and do not create any kind of indiscipline in the Institute/hostel,” the notice reads.

“During the matches, the students are directed to remain in their alloted rooms and do not allow a group of other students to enter their rooms and watch the match groups. If there is a group of students watching the match in a particular room, then the students to whom that particular room is alloted will be debarred from the Institute hostel accommodation and a fine of at least Rs. 5000/- will be imposed on all the students involved,” it reads.

The notice further reads, “The students are further directed to avoid posting any material related to the match on the social media platforms.”

“Furthermore, the students are directed to avoid coming out of hostel/rooms during or after the match us over,” concluded the notice.

Pertinently, last year during T-20 World Cup cricket match played between India and Pakistan, Kashmiri students in various colleges in India were harassed and beaten for ‘celebrating Pakistan’s win,’ while three students were booked in UP’s Agra under UAPA.
