PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti accused the BJP of deliberately stoking communal tensions to divert attention from pressing public issues. She alleged that the party thrives on polarizing society and targeting Muslims to further its political agenda.
While talking to reporters, Mehbooba Mufti criticized Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, claiming that his actions have disturbed communal harmony and spread hatred among communities. “Instead of addressing issues of unemployment, inflation, and governance failures, BJP leaders are invoking religion and harassing Muslims to shift focus from real problems,” she said.
The PDP chief asserted that divisive politics benefits the BJP, allowing it to consolidate votes by exploiting religious sentiments. “It suits them to create religious discord while ignoring the economic distress, rising unemployment, and growing frustration among youth,” she added.
She further warned that such polarization tactics could have long-term consequences on the social fabric of the country. “India has always been a diverse and inclusive nation, but the BJP’s divisive politics is pushing the country towards instability,” she remarked.
Mehbooba urged people to remain vigilant and not fall for communal narratives aimed at distracting them from critical issues. “The people of India must see through this strategy and demand accountability on real issues like economic development, education, and employment,” she concluded. – [KNT]
