‘BJP spreads fake propaganda against Kashmiri Muslims’, Mehbooba Mufti placed under house arrest

The former chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that she had been placed under house arrest.

Mehbooba Mufti, who is also the chairperson of People’s Democratic party said that she had been placed under house arrest ahead of her scheduled visit to the family of the Kashmiri pandit who was attacked in Shopian.

She also blamed the BJP Government of “willfully” spreading fake propaganda about Kashmiri mainstream and hold Kashmiri Muslims responsible for pandit exodus. “They at the same time do not want this fake divisive narrative to be exposed,” she said.

Taking to her twitter, Mehbooba Mufti wrote, “Placed under house arrest today because I wanted to visit the family of the Kashmiri pandit attacked in Shopian. GOI willfully spreads fake propaganda about Kashmiri mainstream & Muslims responsible for pandit exodus & doesn’t want this fake divisive narrative to be exposed.”

After her release on 13 Otober, 2020 following detention period of fourteen months under the Public Safety Act, Mehbooba Mufti has been placed under house arrest several times.

On September 01, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday claimed that she had been put under house arrest in Srinagar, a day after she alleged that the police had shown disrespect to the body of Syed Ali Shah Geelani .

On November 01, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti was put under house arrest to prevent her from visiting Anantnag to meet the family of a youth who was killed in cross-firing between security forces and militants in October last week.

On 17 November, 2021 she was placed under house arrest after she was going to participate in a protest in Press Colony in the Srinagar city.

On 12 December, The authorities placed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supremo and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti under house arrest in Srinagar after the authorities’ denied permission for the PDP’s youth convention.

O January 01, PAGD leaders including three former chief ministers were put under house arrest Saturday before a protest against the proposals of J&K Delimitation Commission, prompting angry reactions from political parties which said such steps will only “incentivize and facilitate” violent agitations.
