BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today expressed confidence that the high voter turnout in the third and final phase of the Jammu Kashmir Assembly elections signals a historic shift, with the BJP poised to write a new chapter in the region’s political landscape.

Chugh hailed the significant voter participation, describing it as a strong rebuttal to the National Conference (NC), Congress, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which he accused of relying on boycott politics in the past.

“The overwhelming participation of voters today is a clear indication that the BJP will form the government after the results on October 8,” Chugh said, adding that the party’s top priority would be to address unemployment among Jammu  Kashmir’s youth.

He emphasized that the large turnout reflected a renewed trust in democracy, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for this transformation. “The people have spoken, and their voices have been heard. Today, we witness a significant shift from the days of electoral boycotts to an era of robust democratic participation,” he said, thanking voters for their engagement.

Chugh pointed to the deep-rooted disillusionment following the 1987 elections, which he said had eroded faith in the democratic process.

“Under PM Modi’s leadership, the people’s trust in the Constitution, as envisioned by BR Ambedkar, has been restored,” he remarked. He further underscored that this was not just a victory for the BJP, but a win for democracy itself.

The BJP leader highlighted that north Kashmir, in particular, saw large numbers of voters coming out, signaling widespread support for Modi’s governance over the past decade.

“This participation underscores the trust placed in the BJP’s vision for a stable and progressive Jammu Kashmir,” he added.

Chugh also praised PM Modi’s efforts to strengthen democracy at the grassroots level, particularly through the establishment of the three-tier Panchayati Raj System.

He noted that these elections marked a crucial turning point for the region, with voter turnout showing that the people are fully invested in shaping their future.
