BJP wins Its First Seat from Kashmir Valley- Leading on 24 Seats in Jammu

The counting of votes polled in Jammu and Kashmir’s District Development Council (DDC) elections is currently underway in all 20 districts. The counting of votes began around 9 AM on Tuesday. Trends from the counting so far suggested that the Gupkar alliance was ahead of the BJP in the DDC election.

The Gupkar alliance was leading in 79 of the 197 DDC seats for which trends were available. The BJP was leading in 50 seats followed by the Congress 20.

The elections, held in eight phases, began on November 28 and ended on December 19. Officials in the State Election Commission said a total of 4,181 candidates, including over 450 women, were in the fray for the 280 DDC seats.

In Ganderbal district’s Sherpathri area, Bilal Ahmad of PAGD, In Ganderbal A lead by Rozi Jan of PAGD, In Kangan A, Tasmeena Adil of PAGD Leads.

In Safapora Independent candidate Ab Rashid is leading, in Lar A Abdul Rashid of PAGD is leading, In Gund A Lead by Hakima bano of PAGD.

The BJP is leading in 24 seats in Jammu division; Congress in 4, NC in 7.

Meanwhile Bhartiya Janta Party has won its first saet from the Kashmir valley as Aijaz Hussain, national Vice President, BJYM has been declared winner from Balhama in Srinagar.
