A tragic incident unfolded in Maharashtra’s Pune on Sunday when a bridge over the Indrayani River in Dehu, Maval taluka, suddenly collapsed around 3:30 PM, sweeping away 20 to 25 tourists.
The area is a popular destination, particularly during the monsoon season.
So far, six deaths have been confirmed, while 5 to 6 people have been rescued. However, 10 to 15 others are still feared trapped in the river’s strong currents.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with teams from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police, fire brigade, and local administration at the site. Initial reports suggest that structural weakness and heavy rainfall may have caused the collapse.
