Reacting to the announcement made by LG to declare September 23rd a state holiday on Eve of Maharaja’s birthday, AIP has questioned the withdrawing of holiday to remember Late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.

In a statement issued to The Kashmiriyat, the party spokesperson Firdous Baba said that while Maharaja Hari Singh entered into accession with Union of India, it was Sheikh Abdullah who was the real architect of the instrument of accession & it was Sheikh Sahab who gifted JK to India like a cake on the plate.

“Rather thanking Sheikh Sahab for gifting Jammu Kashmir to India & rewarding him, it is unfortunate that New Delhi has disgraced Sheikh Abdullah by not only abrogating the holiday on Eve of his birthday but has removed his name from State Police Medals & other prestigious institutions. Had Sheikh Sahab not been there Maharaja would never have been ready & able to accede to Jammu and Kashmir with Union of India,” the party spokesman said in a press release.

Spokesperson also suggested the government to reverse the decision to abrogate 13 July holiday which was aimed to prove tribute to martyr’s of 13 July 1931 who fought the autocratic rule.

He welcomed the recent peace agreement between eight outfits from Assam & the Government of India. Firdous Baba said.

Spokesman said that on Eve of Honourable Prime Minister Modi’s birthday while eight Cheetahs were released in a National Park in India unfortunately seven more Kashmiris were booked in PSA.

Spokesman demanded for unconditional release of all the Political prisoners especially those who had been booked recently under draconian Public Safety Act.
