Beaten up by teacher in Budgam, Class 5 student receives four stitches on head

A 10-year-old student received four stitches after he was beaten up by a schoolteacher in the Tantraypora Magam area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. The student has been identified as Kumail Abbas who studies in class 5 at Madina Public School (MPS). The mother of the victim student confirmed to news agency Kashmir News Trust that her 10-year-old son has received four stitches on his head after he was beaten up by a school teacher whom she identified as Muhammad Maqbool. The school authorities visited the house of the student and assured of taking disciplinary action against the accused teacher. The teacher reportedly thrashed the student after he failed to produce a notebook as demanded by the teacher. (KNT)

2 persons injured in road mishap in Shopian

At least two persons were injured after two motorcyclists collided onto each other at Harmain area in south Kashmir's Shopian district, sources said. They told GNS that two persons identified as Zeeshan Hussain Malik son of Mohammad Hussain Malik, resident of Lahenthoor Shopian and Mohammad Ayoub Ahanger, son of Ghulam Ahmad Ahanger of DK Pora received injuries in the incident and were shifted to District Hospital Shopian for treatment, from where Mohammad Ayoub was referred to DH Anantnag. Police on Saturday claimed to have cracked Gopalpora Grenade attack case by arresting two Hybrid militants of Lashkar-i-Toiba outfit, officials said. Heavy rainfall triggered flash floods near Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra town of JK’s Reasi district. Officials said that all devotees are safe and evacuated to safer places. However, the flash floods have disrupted the movement of devotees. Katra town witnessed heavy rainfall late Friday night forcing the temple authorities to stop the upward movement of devotees for a few hours. Missing India soldier’s body found on glacier after 38 years: Report

The remains of an Indian army soldier have been found more than 38 years after he went missing on a glacier at the highest point along the heavily militarized contested border between India and Pakistan in Kashmir, officials said Wednesday, Associated Press reported. The soldier and 17 other colleagues were occupying a ridge on Siachen Glacier, high in the Karakoram range in disputed Kashmir’s Ladakh region, in May 1984 when they were hit by an avalanche, officials said. The bodies of 13 soldiers were recovered, but five remained missing. Shopian attack: Dead brother leaves behind 4 daughters

Meer Irfan On Tuesday morning, suspected militants shot two brothers belonging to the minority community. During this attack, one brother died on the spot and the other was injured in the Chotigam area of south Kashmir's Shopian district.
