Indian Army Organises South Kashmir’ Sports Festival- 2021 at Pulwama

As part of South Kashmir Sports Festival 2021, 55 RR and Shahid Lala Committee are conducting “Kashmir Premier League”, an Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Pulwama Cricket Stadium. A total of 64 teams are participating in this Knock Out Format 20-20 tournament which commenced on 16 August 2021. After the initial rounds,     “SUPER 16” were selected for the quarter-final matches which culminated on  22 August 2021. Semifinal matches of this exciting tournament will be conducted on 24 August 2021 and the final match will be conducted on 25 August 2021. ICC Dismisses BCCI’s request over Kashmir Premier League

International Cricket Council (ICC) has dismissed India’s request against KPL. According to International Cricket Council, it has no jurisdiction over Kashmir Premier League (KPL), as it’s not an international cricket tournament. ICC’s response came after the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) approached the governing body to take action against the tournament. Prior, BCCI had cautioned and undermined international players partaking in the tournament that they won’t be permitted to participate in any cricketing related activities in India. BCCI then approached ICC and asked them to drop the tournament based on matches being played in the disputed area.

Youth from Village Without Internet Services in Kulgam Secures Second Rank in IES 2020

A youth from Kulgam has secured the second rank in the Indian Economic Service (IES) 2020. He has become the first resident of Jammu Kashmir to achieve this feat. Tanveer Ahmed Khan, 22, from the Naginpora Kund in the Kulgam district, has achieved this position in his first attempt. Tanveer received basic education from Government School and then went to Government Degree College in Anantnag to complete his graduation. After this he did his post graduation in the field of economics from Kashmir University. He recently completed his M.Phil degree in Development Studies in Kolkata. Babar achieved the feat in the third and final T20I against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club. The Pakistan skipper has taken 52 innings to score 2000 T20I runs, four less than India's Virat Kohli who had taken 56 innings to reach the landmark.
