Days after striking a controversial chord of linking his election defeat to the defeat of Islam, Jamaat-e-Islami independent candidate has stoked yet another controversy.

In his latest video interview, Sayar Ahmed Reshi, Nazim e Taleem of now banned Jamaat-e-Islami has said that he has asked his cadre to celebrate elections like Eid.

“Wear new clothes and cook good dishes at home, so that the election day becomes memorable. The day must be celebrated like Eid,” Sayar is heard saying in the latest video interview with ANN.

Pertinently, last week Sayar had stoked a controversy stating that his victory in the elections would be a victory of Islam. “If I loose, it will be a loss of Islam, of those who believe in Prophet Muhammad and those who recite Adhaan,” he had said in a public adress in Kulgam.

Sayar Reshi is contesting elections from the Kulgam assembly segment as an independent candidate of AIP- Jamaat e Islami alliance.
