Civilian killings in J&K remained between 37-40 in last five years: MHA

‘Large number of tourists visited J&K in past few months; Migrant workers continued to stay in Kashmir despite civilian killings’

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Wednesday said that the number of civilian killings have remained in the range of 37-40 every year during the last five years while a large number of tourists have visited J&K in the past few months.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), replying to a query whether it was a fact that civilian killings J&K have increased recently, the Union Minister of State for Home (MHA) Nityanand Rai said that the number of civilian killings have remained in the range of 37 to 40 every year during last five years—2017 to 2021 (till November 30)

The Minister also stated that notwithstanding the attempts by the militants to target some civilians, a large number of migrant workers continued to stay in Kashmir and left as usual in view of the onset of harsh winter. “Also a large number of tourists have visited J&K during the last few months,” he said—(KNO)
