Court seeks NIA’s response on Engineer Rashid’s interim bail by November 27

A Delhi court has reserved its order on whether the case involving incarcerated AIP President and Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid will remain in the current court or be transferred to the MP/MLA court.

Earlier in the day, Rashid moved the court seeking interim bail in a terror-funding case to attend the ongoing Parliament session.

Appearing virtually from Tihar Jail, Rashid urged Principal District and Sessions Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav to grant him the reprieve, stating, “I have been elected by my people. I was not allowed to attend the last session. With folded hands, I request you that I may be granted interim bail.”

The court directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to file its response to Rashid’s plea by November 27.

During the proceedings, both Rashid’s counsel and the NIA agreed to keep the case under the purview of the current court for now.

Further arguments will be heard on November 27.
