Acting tough against the illegal encroachments alongside roads in the town erected by the people and shopkeepers, the Team of Revenue, Municipality and Police today carried out a massive anti-encroachment drive at Bongam Shopian under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian.
As per a press release issued to The Kashmiriyat, During the drive, the team demolished various unlawful temporary structures and other encroachments erected along the road and led to the retrieval of land from encroachers besides leading to the road widening.
The move would be helpful in smoothening the traffic movement and would be an act of relief for the people.
On the occasion, DC appealed to people to remove illegal encroachments within days and said in case of their failure to do so, drives shall continue in the future also and no such unlawful construction activity and illegal occupation of land will be allowed in the district.
He also appealed to the people against the practice of the illegal occupation of land.
DC instructed field functionaries to report encroachments promptly to the Revenue authorities so that the evil practice is controlled at the very early stage.
DC also directed concerned officers to gear up their field functions and ensure that all unlawful structures are demolished within the shortest possible time.
