Home Minister Amit Shah has announced the government’s intention to introduce an amendment exempting doctors from criminal prosecution in cases of medical negligence, aligning with a request from the Indian Medical Association.
Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha has resumed discussions on three crucial criminal law bills: Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Bill.
These bills aim to replace the Indian Penal Code 1860, Code of Criminal Procedure 1973, and the Indian Evidence Act 1872.
The discussions began yesterday despite the widespread suspension of numerous key opposition members, totaling 141 MPs suspended across both houses thus far.
