Drainage work collapses month after construction in Sopore

Locals of Neherpora area of Sopore in North Kashmir alleged that drainage constructed month before has collapsed due to usage of substandard material.

Locals while speaking to news agency – Kashmir News Service (KNS) said, that the drain collapse bears reflects to the bad quality of work and material used by the contractors and approved by the concerned enginer.

They also said, that the officials concerned never bothered to visit the site to assess the construction despite their repeated requests.

“We were surprised when we saw that the drain has collapsed. It is because of sub-standard material used in the construction”, said Javeed Ahmed, Auqaf president.

What will happen when heavy, loaded vehicles will pass over it? This whole drainage will collapse, he questioned the concerned authorities.

Meanwhile, official at R&B division Sopore told KNS, that the collapsed part will be wholly dismantled and constructed again.

Asked about claims of sub-standard material used by the contractor, he said, that the matter will be looked into.(KNS)
