Scores of Students from various coaching centers gathered in main town shopian and started protesting in the main town of Shopian.
Some of the students threw stones on Troops deployed in the area who fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesting students, hence triggering clashes.
Protests have also erupted in Batpora area of the South Kashmir District.
The authorities had ordered closure of schools in many parts of Kashmir as a preventive measure as protests have been going on to demand Justice for Asifa, the 8 year old rape victim.
