To boost up security surveillance in Srinagar city, facial recognition cameras will be installed in some parts, media reports said.

The facial recognition cameras will help in monitoring the movement of OGW’s and militants and ‘will be the part of security set up soon,” the reports added.

According to local television channel Gulistan News, the high-resolution cameras are already installed at some mobile bunkers in the Srinagar district.

Gulistan’s report also added that these cameras will signal the concerned authorities or controllers, once they recognise the face of an OGW or militant, whose data has already been saved.

The report said that the CCTV cameras are already installed at many parts of city, which have proved to be helpful to the security agencies.

The said TV channel’s report said that the militants also change their strategy accordingly. However, the moves become challenging for militants.

Quoting sources, the Gulistan News in a report said that the cameras will be mostly installed at crowded places, busy markets or the places where security bunkers are made.

Meanwhile, a top police official told The Kashmiriyat that this is the project of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
