In yet another misreport, a Srinagar based daily claimed that the Kashmir valley has shutdown as the Srinagar parliamentary seat goes for Polls on Thursday, however this report is unsubstantiated and false.
On Thursday, the newspaper, reported, “All shops and other business establishments are shut in Srinagar while traffic is off the roads. Reports of shutdown were also received from other district headquarters of the valley,” which is a distortion of facts.
All the major townships and rural areas including in Pulwama, Shopian, Isamabad (Anantnag), Kulgam, Baramulla and other districts are open and business, traffic is functioning normally.
This is not the first time that the newspaper has distorted information, the newspaper has been accused of doing so in the past too, depriving Kashmiris of their basic right to know facts.
The shutdown is being observed amid a high security cover in the three districts, Ganderbal, Srinagar and Budgam.
