Father of two month old boy killed in ‘crossfire’ during Kulgam encounter

A civilian who was wounded in “crossfire” during the encounter in Redwani succumbed to his injuries on Friday, his family members said.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the family of Manzoor Ahmed Lone, son of Mohammed Abdullah Lone aged 32 who was a resident of the Redwani area in Kulgam said that Manzoor received a bullet injury during the encounter that broke out in Kulgam’s Redwani area on Friday morning.

Manzoor was rushed to the hospital after being injured in the crossfire, however, he succumbed to his injuries, he said.

The family member said that Manzoor was married the last year and he recently had a child who is barely two months old.

“The body has not been handed over to the family as of yet. We are waiting for the body to be handed over for the last rites,” he told The Kashmiriyat.

However, the body was later handed over to the family members who performed his last rites and buried him in his ancestral graveyard in the Kulgam’s Redwani area.

Official Sources confirmed the death of the civilian.

” Injured civilian namely Manzoor Lone S/O Abdullah Lone R/O Redwani Bala Kulgam succumbed to his injuries. Injured Army Jawan Kiran Singh of 1RR, R/O Ramban is hospitalised at 92 base Hospital Srinagar,” the Jammu Kashmir Police tweeted.

Meanwhile Internet services were barred in parts of Kulgam district.
