Five Militants killed in the encounters late on Wednesday evening have been identified as locals, most of them residents of Kulgan district.
The officials on Wednesday said that five Militants were killed in a joint operation conducted by 9RR of Indian Army, 18BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police in the adjacent villages of Pombai and Gopalpora in Kulgam.
The slain in the Pombai encounter were identified as Shakir Ahmed Nazar, Mohammed Aslam Dar and Sumair Ahmed Najar, all residents of South Kashmir.
Shakir Ahmed Nazar was a top commander of Hizb ul Mujahideen and was active since 17 March 2018. Son of Gulzar Ahmed Nazar, Shakir was a resident of Panipora in Kulgam.
Another Militant killed in the encounter has been identified as Mohammed Aslam Dar whi joined Hizb on 11 May 2019. Aslam was a resident of Redwani area in Kulgam. His father’s name is Mohammed Rafiq Dar.

The two Militants killed in the encounter at Gopalpora Kulgam have been identified Irfan Ajmed Lone and Afaq Sikander.
On June 15, The Kashmiriyat reported that a 19-year-young boy, Irfan Ahmed Lone, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, resident of Chak-awnera Shopain Zainapora area village in Shopain district was missing for the past three days.
His father is a farmer by profession, and his mother is a housewife. He has two brothers, namely Aqib Lone and Faizan Lone. Aqib Lone is a B.A final year student, while Irfan himself was a matriculate.
