The Government forces on Monday morning thrashed several youth during a cordon and search operation launched in the Avend- Rawalpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian Distrct.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that one youth has suffered serious injuries after he was allegedly thrashed by forces during a cordon and search operation launched by 34 RR of Indian Army, 18 BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly.
During the CASO, Forces searched several households and When the forces found nothing, they snatched dozens of cell phones and beat several youths resulting in grave injuries to one person.
In utter anger, they said, the forces thrashed several residents, during which youth identified as Sartaj Ahmad Bhat was assaulted by a group of soldiers, they said.
Sartaj was shifted to District Hospital Shopian for treatment.
A Police official however denied these allegations and said Forces do not engage in such uncivil behavior.
Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched as an Anti Militancy operation on May 2, 2017 amid a rise in the local recruitment into Militant groups in the Kashmir valley.
The Forces jointly conduct search operations in a specific area, locking down the area virtually and frisk houses on will.
