Former JNU president and student activist Shehla Rashid known for her Anti-Modi stance has on Tuesday praised the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government and LG Manoj Sinha for improving “the human rights record in Kashmir”.

“However inconvenient it may be to admit this, the human rights record in Kashmir has improved under the Narendra Modi government and the Office of LG J&K administration. By a purely utilitarian calculus, the govt’s clear stance has helped save lives overall. That’s my angel,” she posted on X, earlier known as Twitter.

She said so while quoting a post by ANI in which Rayees Mattoo, brother of terrorist Javed Mattoo, said that he waved the tricolour from his heart.

Rashid was earlier associated with the student wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and then returned to the Kashmir valley on 2018 to join Shah Faesal’s political party.

The two also filed a petition to safeguard the special status under Articles 35A and 370, however, later they withdrew petitions.

Shah Faesal who had quit IAS in the year 2018 was reinducted into administrative service last year.
