Four Militants have been killed during the two encounters that raged on Wednesday afternoon in the Pombai and Gopalpora areas of Kulgam district in South Kashmir.
Earlier an official speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that 9RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and 18 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force launched a cordon and search operation in the adjacent villages of Kulgam district.
During the cordon, the Militants were asked to surrender, however they opened fire upon the forces, triggering an encounter, the official said.
In the subsequent exchange of gunfire, two Militants were killed in the encounter at Gopalpora and two were killed in the encounter in Pombai area of Kulgam.

Meanwhile Locals told The Kashmiriyat that an intermittent exchange of gunfire is on and one last Militant is still holed up inside a residential house.
They said that reinforcements have been rushed to the spot. “The forces have installed search lights to not give any chance to Militants to escape,” Locals said.
The Jammu Kashmir Police said that commander of The Resistance Front (TRF) identified as Afaq Sikander has been killed in the encounter.
