The unscheduled power cuts in the Tral sub-division of Pulwama district in the Kashmir valley amid cold weather are irking the local residents of the area for the past two weeks.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat the locals alleged that the Power development department has started the curtailment of electric supply in the area during scheduled power supply time.

“Last Monday the department started the increase in curtailment by unscheduled power cuts during evening and morning hours,” a Local Mohammed Shaban told The Kashmiriyat.

He said that the unscheduled cuts have created hurdles to the consumers, students to perform their day to day duties.

Another resident said that they understand that the whole valley is facing a power crisis but the Tral sub-division is witnessing excessive power cuts.

The residents said that the unscheduled cuts in the electricity in the area have become a routine matter for the past few days.

They appealed to the concerned department to intervene in the matter and halt the unscheduled power cuts in the area so the public can’t suffer more during scheduled power supply time.

The Kashmiriyat spoke to Engineer Nazir Ahmed who is the transmission head of Tral’s Power Development Department who said that the Department has been providing scheduled power supply in whole of Tral.

He said that he does not have a control over the total number of hours the electricity is provided for.
