Geelani’s Son-in-Law was Paid 5 Crore by PDP’s Waheed Wara in 2016- NIA

The National Investigation Agency has claimed that after the death of Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Burhan Wani in 2016, PDP leader Waheed Ur Rehman Para paid 5 crores to Altaf Ahmed Shah (alias Funtoosh), son-in-law of Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

Waheed Para, the PDPs youth leader was arrested by the National Investigation Agency in January on charges of having links with banned organizations such as Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

This was revealed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a charge sheet recently filed in a special court in Jammu. The NIA alleged that after the death of Wani, who was killed in an encounter with the army in July 2016, Para was in contact with Altaf Ahmad Shah, and asked him to ensure that the Kashmir Valley was to be completely disturbed.

Para, through his lawyer, denies the allegations and claims that he was arrested for political reasons. After this, the court granted bail to him for not being named in the supplementary charge sheet.

He was then arrested again by the Counter Intelligence Wing in Kashmir and has been in jail ever since. His bail was rejected by an NIA court in Srinagar.

The PDP had earlier claimed that the central government was pressurizing the mercury as a strategy to change its name and join the BJP.

The NIA’s charge sheet alleged that Para had paid Shah Rs 5 crore during 2016, Shah is a close associate and son-in-law of Hurriyat leader Geelani.

Pertinently Altaf Ahmed Shah popularly known as Altaf Fantoosh has been lodged in Tihar Jail since 2017 in a money laundering case.
