Officials on Thursday claimed to have discovered a grand fossil site in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, an official said that on 28th November, 2021 a grand fossil site on way to Nunkhul at Kandimarg habitation of village D K Marg.
“The site was found at an altitude of around 2356mts. Site coordinates are 33°32’36″N 74°57’10″E,” the official said.
This site is around 25 kms away from District Headquarters Kulgam.
Earlier in August, A gigantic fossil site was discovered by two lecturers by profession in the School Education Department Kashmir.
Mr. Manzoor Javaid and Dr. Rouf Hamza, while scouting for fossil samples came across a site which is rich in fossil diversity replete with dense fossil samples at specific locations aged between 488- 354 million years.
That site is located at a distance of about 02 Kilometres from the world famous Ahrabal Water Fall In the Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
