A man ran away from his home on his wedding day in the Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

As per the family, the would-be groom from Wokbal Karihama left for the Kupwara market along with his father after which he went missing in the north Kashmir town.

Identified as Ibrahim, the groom packed the stuff that the son-father duo purchased in Kupwara market. “I called my brother and he said he was with our father. My brother told me that he had buy shoes for himself. My father was just on the way when he received a call from the bride that Ibrahim’s phone was switched off,” his brother said.

Upon being questioned, he said that the marriage was done only after he insisted his family that he wanted to marry the woman. “There was no force. He was willfully into the marriage and wanted to marry the woman,”  said his brother.

Ibrahim’s father also tried to call him, but to no avail. “We tried to call relatives, went everywhere to search him, but he could not be traced,” added his brother. Left with no options, the family filed a missing report at the Hatmulla Police station in Kupwara.

Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that the groom was later traced by the police and fined for causing damage to the bride’s side for the wedding arrangements they had made.
