On Friday, the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Gulmarg, released a circular asking for checks on the selling and usage of crude water boilers and heaters, owing to the increase in ‘load shedding and unscheduled power cuts.’
“It has come to the notice of the undersigned that crude boilers/ heaters are being sold in the market to the people and use of such crude boilers/ heaters waste the energy, thereby increases the load shedding and unscheduled power cuts,” said the circular.
It further added that, “As such, for efficient use of energy, and its conservation, and for safety of life & property, it is enjoined upon the Officers of KPDCL Tangmarg to carry out surprise checks of the markets and areas of this Sub Division in order to check the selling /use of crude water boilers and heaters by the shopkeepers/ consumers. They shall seize such crude appliances forthwith.”
The circular said that the Tehsildars and SHOs concerned would “render full support to the Department in this regard.”
It is pertinent to mention that the unscheduled power cuts in the valley during the months of winters irk daily routine and livelihood in the valley. Several news reports emerge from the valley everyday, wherein the residents request authorities for power supply in their respective areas.
