Heat Wave Returns to Kashmir, Weather to remain Dry for Next 48 Hours

Heatwave returned due to surge in the maximum temperature even though night remains slightly cold after maximum temperature settled below normal in the Kashmir valley.

The weather will remain mainly dry over Jammu Kashmir during the next 24 hours, a Met department spokesman told UNI Friday evening. He said there will be no large change in the weather during the subsequent 48 hours.

After witnessing pleasant weather during the past about a week as mercury remained below normal, heatwave returned in the Kashmir valley, where the maximum temperature recorded surge though night temperature was still below normal.

Srinagar, where restrictions continued for the second day on Friday as a precautionary measure following the death of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Wednesday night, the maximum temperature witnessed a several degree surge. Against yesterday’s maximum temperature of 29 degrees, on Friday it was 31.2 degrees which was 2.7 notches above normal.
