High Court Bans Fresh Constructions, Felling of Trees in Gulmarg

The Division Bench of the Jammu Kashmir High Court has imposed a complete ban on all types of construction and felling of trees in the world-famous tourist destination Gulmarg.

 

During the hearing of the case in Srinagar, Justice Ali Mohammad Marge and Justice Vinod Chatterjee gave these instructions during the hearing in a PIL filed in 2012 by Mohammad Rafiq Zargar, resident of Gulmarg.

During the hearing of the case, the Bench observed that in the last 13 years, the Bench has issued several guidelines for the preservation of the natural beauty of Gulmarg and on the direction of the Bench, a high level committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of Jammu Kashmir on this issue Several important steps were taken along with discussing.

 

The committee also decided to make a master plan for Gulmarg.

 

Even after this, several committees were formed in which many issues like renewing the lease of hotels were also discussed.

 

Apart from this, the Chief Executive Officer of Gulmarg Development Authority was also directed to submit a detailed report on “illegal construction” and violation of rules in Gulmarg.
