High Court Takes Cognizance of Hundreds of Corruption Cases Pending for Years

Challans of hundreds of cases including corruption were presented in the High court of Jammu Kashmir, The cases have been pending for years.

Most of the cases are of government official personnel, The High Court has reprimanded the Police Department on this matter.

The Jammu Kashmir High Court has issued a notice to the Secretary of the Home Department, the Secretary to the GAD, the DGP Police and the Vigilance Commission, seeking a reply on the pending investigations.

On Wednesday, a bench of Justice Rajneesh Oswal and Justice Rajesh Bindal took automatic cognizance of it and turned the matter into a PIL. The report said that since 1998, investigations into 229 cases of corruption have been pending.

The cases are related to government officials and personnels, which are in Jammu Anti Corruption Court.

The invoices of the cases have not been presented till now, while officers and personnel have also taken promotions and other benefits due to lack of investigation over the years.

The High Court observed that there are many cases under RPC whose invoices are pending since 2011, these are cases of NDPS.

There are many cases in which the crime is very serious but the challan was not presented. The court is not able to do justice in such cases.
